Marco Polo, the Adventurer

An incredible journey from Italy to China
during the Middle Ages

From Venice, Italy in 1271, the adolescent Marco Polo traveled with his father on an incredible journey far beyond the known world. They traveled vast distances through Asia, the Gobi desert, and into China where they were invited to join the great court of the Mongol conqueror, Kublai Khan.

Marco's unique perspective on life and ability to observe and record events accurately won him favor with the Khan. He soon became the Khan's favorite emissary and was sent on special missions throughout China. Marco took this traveling opportunity to observe and record what he saw. He realized that Europeans could learn much from this ancient civilization.

Marco Polo finally returned home, more than twenty years after leaving Venice, with an amazing story to tell.
