Synopsis of Novel 2 in the series "What Made Them Famous?"

Ferdinand Magellan, the Explorer

"The world is round and I shall prove it."

In 1519, a group of men set sail from Spain in five small wooden ships under the command of a Portuguese navigator, Ferdinand Magellan. Their voyage is the greatest sea journey in recorded history: the first voyage around the entire world.

Against all odds, Magellan's skill and determination helped his crew reach their destination and eventually earned him the title of the greatest maritime explorer of all times.

When Magellan embarked with his crew of 270 men, he could not have known that his journey would take almost three years to complete, only one ship with eighteen men aboard would return, and that he would not be among the survivors.

Ferdinand Magellan's voyage changed the world. People would never think about their environment in the same way again.
