Step into History
"What Made Them
Famous?"

 Vargie Johnson

Author Vargie Johnson was born, raised and educated, in the Bay of Islands of New Zealand and is of part-Maori origin. He says much of his wealth in writing comes from his rich upbringing and his experiences as being the youngest of thirteen children.

His parents were farmers. Vargie has been keeping journals and writing short stories since the early 1960's when he was about 7 years old. However, it has only been within the last fifteen years that he has written on a professional basis.

His literary career first began as a writer of educational materials. These articles opened doors for him-he found himself writing for newspapers, variety publications, and airline magazines as a freelance writer.

Vargie's leap into the field of novel writing occurred in the early 1990's when he wrote and published three historical fiction novels with Vantage Press Inc, New York. In 2006, Vargie switched publishers to KiwE Publishing, Ltd., out of Spokane, Washington, and currently has nine novels with them. His latest series of eight books are titled "What Made Them Famous?"

Several years back, Vargie took a break from his historical series to transcribe his grandfather's hundred-year-old, quill written, journals into novel form. This project also turned out to be a huge success for him and today his book "The Autobiography of My Grandfather, Tupu" is now being read in a number of educational institutes around the globe.

This book was republished by KiwE Publishing, Ltd. in the United States under the new title "Tupu" and is distributed by Amazon, Barnes & Nobles and KiwE Publishing, Ltd.

Although born in New Zealand, Vargie now spends much of his time traveling the world researching material for his historical, biographical novels. He currently resides in the Middle East with his wife, Pamela. They have three sons: Alvaro, Dayne, and Luka.
